What’s Ahead in 2025
Your support helps us build more homes and create new opportunities for Durham families to achieve their dream of homeownership! Together, we are making a lasting impact.
In 2024, 12 Durham families became Habitat homeowners. Congratulations to these families for completing their homeownership journey! We completed the North Plum Street micro-community, a block of seven homes utilizing responsible density practices; in addition to five more homes in central and east Durham. We also kicked off construction in our Mount Vernon community, and progress is moving rapidly on 10 new Durham Habitat homes.
Our Repairs team completed 51 repairs projects for existing low-income homeowners, addressing critical health and safety issues to keep families in their homes and preserve the stock of affordable homes in Durham. And our Homeowner Services team provided support services for 1,514 community members across several programs.
These are incredible examples of what we can achieve when our community comes together to volunteer, donate, and advocate for affordable homeownership.
This year, we’re aiming to build even more homes, as we remain committed to addressing the ongoing need for affordable homeownership in our community. This year, our 40th year of building, we’re set to embark on several new projects including:
- The ambitious Wynn Oaks development, which will bring 40 townhome units, along with a community space and a playground, to southeast Durham.
- Carter Row, a block of four homes that will bring additional responsible density near the city core. These homes will be built in honor of the many contributions to Habitat for Humanity and affordable housing made by the late Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn.
- New partnerships with Preservation Durham and the Partnership for Healthy Homes will provide vital repairs services for even more homeowners throughout Durham.
